As any dancer can relate, Mariah woke up in the middle of the night saying she had a nightmare. She runs in my room saying "Mommy, I had a bad dream that I messed up on stage and my dance teacher left me on stage to do a solo that was really horrible." Being a former dancer, I knew this dream all too well. I gave her reassurance that it was just a bad dream and it meant that she would do well.
Well...she surely did! She was confident in her dance moves on stage as this was her first time with the dance genre of Hip Hop. Last year she learned Ballet & Tap and wanted something different to learn for this year. They have been practicing for the past 9 months and she finally had the chance to show her skills. I hate to say it but I did turn into a little bit of a dance mom the past few weeks in critiquing her steps while practicing at home. I tried to keep it in but it came out in teaching her about dancing with attitude and cleaning up some of the dance moves. It paid off cause she rocked the stage. Proud Mommy moment! When I went to pick her up from backstage, she asked "mommy, did a lot of people come?" I replied "yes" and she said "ok good!" Shout out to all my friends and family that came out to support her. We love you Riah Roo!!
